In 1920 Josef Vencovsky’s family left Vienna, Austria, to settle definitively in Brazil. With the end of World War I, which resulted in the death of his eldest son, Ernst, he crossed the Atlantic in the ship Columbia with his wife Anna and four children: Otto, Paul, Stephanie and Karoline. They arrived at the port in Santos, São Paulo, on February 15, 1920.
